Her parents were Tane-Mahuta(God of Forests and Birds) and Hineahuone (the Woman created from earth). Tane-Mahuta then married Hinetitama. One day Hinetitama asked Tane-Mahuta if he knew who her father was(she didn't know him because he changed his form),he then told her that he was her father.
